ABA Finals
On Sat 31st May I went to watch Jimmy Kelly Jnr box in the junior ABA
Finals at Everton Park Sports Center. Needless to say he won! Although
nothing is ever a forgone conclusion in life, and considering the guy
he faced was possibly one of the best amateur boxers at his weight in
the UK, Jimmy still won pretty convincingly. I have known Jimmy for
many years and would regard him as one of the most dedicated athletes
I have ever met and he is still only fifteen! Along with his father
Jimmy Kelly Snr they have dedicated years of their time to develop
Jimmy into the boxer he is now. I would also like to give Jimmy
Egan’s Boxing Academy a mention as this is where Jimmy trains, and
the fact that the gym has produced many quality boxers. Jimmy Jnr will
now, I hope, push on to new heights and become one of the greatest
boxers the UK has ever produced. I truly believe, after watching him
box again, he has both the physical and mental attributes to take him
to the very top, and with his father to watch him, I just cannot see
him failing.

In closing I would
just like to say how well run the event was and what gentlemen this
sport, unlike some, produces.
