Straight Blast Gym
Straight Blast Gym Stockport offers a unique
approach to MMA. We teach functional combat athletics, Brazilian
Ju Jitsu (BJJ) and No Holds Barred fighting. Drawing from some
of the oldest combat sports such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Catch
Wrestling and BJJ. We prepare you for the ring or the street.
The gym utilizes training methods and techniques taught by Karl
Tanswell of Straight Blast Gym UK (Manchester). Absorbing what
is useful and rejecting what is useless is the motto of the gym.
The corner stone principle of the gym is ALIVENESS. If you are
truly training with ALIVENESS then by necessity you will
incorporate the other four principles of the gym, FUNCTIONALITY,
ADAPTABILITY, ATHLETICISM and ATTITUDE.
Aliveness demands that you
leave your ego at the door. There are no titles, no rituals
and no terminology. Training is hard but fun, you will learn
in a friendly environment with other like minded people.
Stockport Thai
Fighters
At Stockport Thai Fighters the emphasis is on fight
training.
A Thai Boxing bout consists of 5 x 3minute rounds,
punching, kicking, knee and elbow strikes are all allowed,
along with Thai clinch or stand up wrestling, which makes the
sport a very exciting spectacle. To prepare for this our
fighters will train 4 to 5 times per week, sessions lasting 1
- 1 1/2 hours. Training varies but
emphasis is on pad work to increase power in all strikes and
sparring to perfect the technique in a real environment.
Skipping, stretching and body conditioning are all part of the
training schedule. Stockport Thai Fighters welcomes all
fitness levels . You may not want to compete in a Thai Boxing
bout but you can still enjoy the benefits of hard training and
getting fighting fit!
